In collaboration with Gonzaga University, Bishop White Seminary offers a complete undergraduate program for seminarians needing a college education. This program offers students a sound liberal arts education, which includes the study of the natural world and humanity in all its historical and cultural diversity. The curriculum takes into account contemporary issues of the day as they pertain to moral and religious topics. The authentic teaching of the Church on such issues are clearly and cogently presented.
Because a proper philosophical training is vital for seminarians, all Bishop White Seminary students are ordinarily required to earn the Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy. Through their course of study, students are helped to critically evaluate a culture which emphasizes subjectivism as a criterion and measure of truth. Seminarians develop a reflective awareness of the fundamental relationship between the human spirit and truth -- that truth which is revealed to us fully in Jesus Christ.
A seminarian wishing to concentrate in another field of study other than philosophy would need to obtain written permission of his Vocation Director.
In addition to academic formation, all seminarians participate in the spiritual, personal and pastoral formation offered at Bishop White Seminary. After successful completion of the undergraduate program at Gonzaga University, candidates go on to study theology at any one of the number of Major Seminaries in the United States or Europe.
